Domaine Phillipe Bouzereau, Auxey Duresses, Les Boutonniers, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France, 2023

Producer Profile
Philippe Bouzereau is the 9th generation of a family of vine-growers in Meursault.
Following on from his father he took responsibility for the management of this fine 18 hectare Domaine back in 2006, helped by his brother Charles. With the well-being of the vineyards at heart, his team practice minimum intervention to enable the vines to develop naturally and healthily. His emblematic wine is the 1.7ha monopole Meursault ‘Vieux Clos du Château de Cîteaux’, produced from a single parcel of vines planted by his father.
Viticulture
Philippe cultivates a huge diversity of vineyard plots, from Aloxe-Corton in the north to Chassagne-Montrachet in the south, providing a multitude of small parcels with which to compose the ‘mosaic’ of his production. They are wholeheartedly dedicated to nurturing the vines and showcasing the distinctive character of each Burgundy terroir and the 18 hectares of vines are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming.
Winemaking
Grapes are gently pressed and fermented using native yeasts. Aged for 10–12 months in French oak barrels (around 15–20% new), with regular lees stirring to add roundness and complexity while retaining purity and finesse.
Tasting Note
Fresh yet subtly rounded, this white Burgundy shows delicate aromas of crisp orchard fruit, lemon zest, and white blossom, layered with hints of hazelnut and wet stone. The palate is vibrant and textured, with clean acidity and a lightly creamy finish.
Food Matching
Seared scallops and pea purée, roast guinea fowl with lemon thyme, or herbed goat’s cheese tart.
