Philippe Bouzereau, Meursault 1er Cru, Charmes, Burgundy, France, 2022

Producer Profile
Philippe Bouzereau is the 9th generation of a family of vine-growers in Meursault.
Following on from his father he took responsibility for the management of this fine 18 hectare Domaine back in 2006, helped by his brother Charles. With the well-being of the vineyards at heart, his team practice minimum intervention to enable the vines to develop naturally and healthily. His emblematic wine is the 1.7ha monopole Meursault ‘Vieux Clos du Château de Cîteaux’, produced from a single parcel of vines planted by his father.
Viticulture
Crafted from a small, 0.22-hectare parcel the vines, planted in 1950, grow in deep, clay-limestone soils with a notably stony structure. Tillage is carried out between the rows, eliminating the need for herbicides.
Tasting Note
This Meursault Charmes is highly expressive, revealing layers of acacia blossom, apricot, mirabelle plum, and toasted almond, all underpinned by a vibrant minerality. The palate opens with rich notes reminiscent of crème brûlée, followed by bright citrus zest and fresh green almond. This is classic Chardonnay—supple yet precise, with signature hints of hazelnut and almond, and a finish that is mineral-driven and impeccably clean.
