Domaine Philippe Bouzereau, Bourgogne Blanc, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France, 2023

Producer Profile
Philippe Bouzereau is the 9th generation of a family of vine-growers in Meursault.
Following on from his father he took responsibility for the management of this fine 18 hectare Domaine back in 2006, helped by his brother Charles. With the well-being of the vineyards at heart, his team practice minimum intervention to enable the vines to develop naturally and healthily. His emblematic wine is the 1.7ha monopole Meursault ‘Vieux Clos du Château de Cîteaux’, produced from a single parcel of vines planted by his father.
Viticulture
The grapes are sourced from various parcels within the Côte de Beaune, with a focus on sustainable viticulture practices. The vineyard is managed with minimal intervention to allow the vines to develop naturally and healthily.
Winemaking
As with work in the vineyard, so too is with work in the cellar meticulous: all treatments/actions are carried out only if absolutely necessary, with the aim as being as non-interventionist as possible. Throughout the vinification they practise simplicity, observation and vigilance, using only natural yeasts and modest levels of new oak, refraining from ‘batonnage’ completely. Matured on the fine less using modest levels of new oak, then transferred to stainless-steel tank.
Tasting Note
This wine presents a pale gold hue with green reflections. The nose offers aromas of white fruits, acacia, and subtle aniseed notes. On the palate, it is rich and aromatic, with a mineral-driven finish and a touch of salinity.
