Domaine Philippe Bouzereau, Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 1er Cru 'Morgeot', Burgundy, France

Producer Profile

Philippe Bouzereau is the 9th generation of a family of vine-growers in Meursault.

Following on from his father he took responsibility for the management of this fine 18 hectare Domaine back in 2006, helped by his brother Charles. With the well-being of the vineyards at heart, his team practice minimum intervention to enable the vines to develop naturally and healthily.

Viticulture

Morgeot is one of the largest and most historically significant Premier Cru climats in Chassagne‑Montrachet. It lies on the southern side of the appellation, stretching across the lower slopes of the Côte d’Or and covering just over 58 hectares across roughly 20 named lieux‑dits. Morgeot’s soils are heavier clay‑gravel mixes compared to higher‑slope climats, lending themselves particularly well to structured wines.

Winemaking

After harvesting, the Chardonnay grapes undergo a soft, pneumatic pressing. The aim is to extract the juice delicately, keeping phenolic bitterness to a minimum. Fermentation is followed by ageing on French Oak barrels for 12 months.

Tasting Note

A wine that captures the refined character of Burgundian terroir. Its nose offers vibrant fruit aromas lifted by subtle mineral nuances, leading into a finish that is both fresh and impressively persistent.
