Guillaume Gonnet, Tavel Rose, La Nymphe, Southern Rhône, France, 2025
Producer Profile
The energetic and charismatic Guillaume Gonnet is not your average Rhône winemaker.
Extremely open in his attitude, his curious, boundary-challenging approach extends far beyond wine. He has travelled to the far ends of the earth, revelling in the opportunity to surf some of the best waves in the world while learning his craft in various Australian and New Zealand regions. Returning to the Rhône with his Australian wife Kelly, Guillaume has put similar energy into his family estate and his new-found enthusiasm for Grenache-based wines. Guillaume allows the fruit to express itself freely through hands-off winemaking and displaying a fascination for the varying soils of the Rhône in his diverse wines, he’s just the sort of restless creative that we love to work with.
Viticulture
The grapes for this Tavel Rosé come from 25-year-old vines planted on sandy topsoil over limestone bedrock. The free-draining sandy soils encourage deep rooting and naturally control vine vigour, while the limestone subsoil provides a steady water supply during dry periods. This combination promotes balanced ripening, concentrated fruit flavours and fresh acidity, producing a rosé with depth, structure, vibrant red fruit character and a subtle mineral edge.
Winemaking
Following a cold soak on the skins for 12–18 hours to gently extract colour and delicate aromatics, the grapes are directly pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures. This careful approach preserves freshness and purity of fruit while creating a rosé with an elegant pale hue, vibrant red berry flavours and a refined, balanced structure.
Tasting Note
This is a round, textured rose, a gorgeous, vibrant, dark, pink colour. Loads of fruit on the nose and palate - strawberry, cherries, watermelon, peach, and nectarine. Nice dry, refreshing finish. This wine is not only pretty, but tastes delightful. You may have trouble sharing it!

Incredibly versatile. Pasta, aperitif, freshly cut melon, goats cheese. This wine loves a barbecue. Meat and salads!
