Domaine Tortochot, Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Corvées, Burgundy, France, 2023

Producer Profile
Domaine Tortochot is a renowned family estate currently led by fourth-generation winemaker Chantal Tortochot, who took over from her father in the late 1990s.
The domaine manages 12ha of vineyards divided into 34 distinct parcels, including vines in Lavaux Saint-Jacques adjacent to the famed Clos Saint-Jacques. Known for producing traditional-style Gevrey wines, Chantal’s are celebrated for their chiselled fruit, structured tannins and bright acidity, which reflect the true Burgundian character.
Viticulture
The appellation lies at the foot of the Grand Cru slopes, featuring vineyards with eastern exposure and well-drained brown calcic soils enriched by silt deposits. These conditions produce some of the most delicate and naturally balanced wines, characterised by exceptional fullness and length. Among the domaine’s most renowned climats are Aux Etelois, Champs Cheny, Aux Corvées, and, situated slightly lower, Les Seuvrées.
Tasting Note
This wine is fruity and structured, with a firm backbone and generous length on the palate. Its ample body is supported by sturdy tannins, making it ideal for aging. Best enjoyed in five years or later, it has excellent potential for long-term cellaring.
Food Matching
Pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef stew, or game dishes like venison, as well as aged hard cheeses.
